Cam Gold
BaPHed, Double Major in Sports Science and Exercise Prescription
First Aid
CPR
University of Otago , New Zealand
So yes, I have got an accent. I'm a born and raised New Zealander, not Auzzie, ha ha. Recently I have just completed a four year degree at the University of Otago, in New Zealand, certifying me with a double major in Sports Science and Exercise Prescription. During my time in University I have completed numerous papers that have really shaped how I am developing as a Personal Trainer here at Aeroflex.
PHSE 311 Medical Aspects of Exercise
PHSE 314 Athletic Training and conditioning
PHSE 302 Biomechanics: Movement analysis
PHSE 310 Athletic Injuries
PHSE 315 Physical Activity and Health
PHSE 312 Prescription of Physical Activity
PHSE 313 Exercise Prescription Practicum (full year paper)
PHSE 304 Motor Control
PHSE 334 Advanced Sport Psychology
PHSE 340 Managing Sport Organizations
During my last year I have also completes an advanced resistance training course which has definitely helped me supplement my periodization and programming knowledge for clients that I am attaining. Last year I was also very lucky to have been given the opportunity to work in an Exercise Rehabilitation Clinic with the University of Otago. Here I worked with a multitude of clients with varying disorders and injuries. I have always had a passion for sports, exercise and all the benefits that they bring with them. I believe that if you gave a strong mind and know the direction you are looking to head and have specific goals set up that are both measurable and achievable then success will manifest. Train hard.
I just wanted to take a minute to write you a quick note about one of your personal trainers - Cam Gold. I've been training with Cam since the end of January and want to let you know that he is an absolutely great personaltrainer. He's done wonders for me. I am NOT someone who was ever into fitness, but decided that I have to do something for my physical and emotional health. I asked for a personal trainer for Christmas and got Cam and he has been a real godsend. I was scared to death when I went for my first session with Cam because I was not physically fit AT ALL. I was very overweight and out of shape. He has been great. He developed some programs that challenge me and he is awesome at keeping me motivated and pushing. I went away to Vancouver Island for a couple of months and he developed some programs that I could do while I was there so that I could keep on with a fitness regimen. He called a couple of times to check on me while I was there as well which I thought was awesome.
Cam has a great sense of humour and is really good at keeping me motivatedby giving me high fives and atta girls and telling me when I'm doing well. He also plays along when I get into my negotiating phase of the program (awe c'mon.....I'll give you an extra ten of those if I don't have to do five more of these!!!) He's also really supportive and motivating on those occasional off days when I don't seem to have any strength or energy and am not able to do my program as well as I'm used to. He also assured me I would be able to handle the yoga classes at Aeroflex so I've been attending those three times a week for more than a month now.
I've never worked with a personal trainer before, but I wouldn't trade Cam for anyone else. He definitely keeps me coming back to Aeroflex.
I know many times people don't take the time to let others know when someone has done well, so I wanted to make a point of letting you know how much I appreciate Cam. I hope you can give him an 'atta boy.
Thanks.

A good trainer will give you a GREAT workout; a GREAT trainer will push you beyond the limits you have set for yourself, consciously or sub-consciously. I often hear "Right! You have high hopes!" from my clients when I'm explaining a new exercise or increasing the weight or time of a familiar one. I don't have 'high hopes', I recognize potential and with my fitness knowledge I can safely help you achieve it! I passionately preach about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and I actively live what I preach.
I have worked with a variety of clients including beginners new to the gym scene; members needing weight loss; members wanting to gain more muscle; seasoned members wanting new exercises and programs to further challenge themselves; current members of EPS, RCMP, Strathcona Emergency Personal (firefighter) and Edmonton Emergency Personal (firefighter); as well as help condition other clients to pass the demanding physical fitness tests of all 4 previous occupations listed.
You might reach your fitness goals without hiring a personal trainer, but with one, you'll reach them quicker, safer and stronger - leaving you time to set some more before the year is up! I am happy to provide any new potential clients with references, please inqure at Aeroflex Reception.

AFLCA –Group Fitness Instructor
First Aid
CPR Level C
Although personal training is a fairly new adventure for Janel, her background in dance and her university education have given her the knowledge of healthy living and the passion for exercise that she is excited to share with her clients. Dancing since the age of 3 gave her the opportunity to dance professionally for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines for three years before heading back to school to pursue a career in the fitness and health industry. Currently in her final year of her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology, Janel has had the opportunity to learn just how the body works and reacts to exercise through courses in anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports psychology, sports injuries and rehabilitation, just to name a few!
Janel takes a very individualized approach to training. She believes that every client deserves a program that is designed especially for them in order to meet their unique goals and to make each session interesting and, of course, challenging! Janel believes that fitness can and should be a part of everyone’s daily routine. She works hard to motivate her clients to realize the possibilities and surpass their goals that they thought never would be possible.

My love for fitness began when I started to run competitively. A journey that has taken me to the Boston Marathon, 5 Death Races, an Ultra Marathon, and most recently, a top 20 finish in the Las Vegas Marathon. I know first hand that if you're willing to work hard, you will be successful. This applies to anything you do to make your body stronger and healthier… and the benefits ALWAYS have a way of spilling over into every other aspect of your life. The problem most of us have is not knowing where to start and finding the motivation to push through... That’s where I come in. I know what it feels like to be staring up at a massive mountain, and I also know the feeling of triumph to stand at the top. My workouts are tough, but I'll Help you discover that you are too.

One of her best qualities is the ability to individualize or tweak a client's workout program according to their needs for that day. "If your shoulder/back/foot or any part or your body hurts, don't worry - we are still working out today, we will just work around it!"

Specialty:
- Kettlebell and Functional Training
- Maximum results in minimum time
- Strength, cardio, and flexibility in one workout
I’ve always had a passion for fitness and have been working out regularly for 14 years. My motivation to stay fit is primarily to remain healthy, feel confident, and achieve personal goals that I set for myself. In the past I have completed a Half Ironman and in the future will complete the full Ironman in Penticton B.C. I discovered the Russian Kettlebell last year and was immediately blown away by how quickly they can transform your body, as well as dramatically improve endurance and strength. It inspired me to help others discover this tool. My goal as a trainer is to provide you with best work out in minimal time so you see results FAST and remain motivated to achieve your personal goals.
Kettlebells at Aeroflex with Dustin Smaill was hands down the best workout I’ve ever done!
After only 2 sessions I was able to do “man” Pushups as opposed to woman pushups on my knees... My Cardio and endurance increased immensely and my strength did as well. I moved from the smallest of the Kettlebells to the second smallest! It’s a great workout and I cant stop talking about it to everyone!!

I take a constant, continuous change philosophy to my training. I incorporate dynamic, functional and isolation training to build a complete complex system that functions better as a whole versus independent parts. In a constantly changing environment it only makes sense to take that approach to your training and your lifestyle. This is what I coach, a change in lifestyle, leading to a healthier body, mind and spirit. I enjoy working with a wide variety of people, and love to have fun, laugh and entertain my clients while keeping them focused and educated on their goals and needs. I utilize my training in university, along with my courses, to build complete, complex, challenging programs that will keep my clients goals in mind while keeping their mind in the game and on their goal. My passion is helping people reach, achieve and realize their goals, I look forward to meeting and training with you in the future.
